What we hold, and what we don't

Questions about any of this are welcome before you begin.

Kindred is commissioned to write about people's private lives. This page is the plain version of how that material is handled.

  1. 01

    What we collect

Your name and email address, and everything you choose to write in the intake for your piece. Nothing else is requested, and no information is collected because a form could ask for it.

  2. 02

    Why we collect it

To write the piece you commissioned, to deliver it to you, and to handle revisions. Your intake answers travel with your order so that the brief and the payment arrive together.

  3. 03

    Who else handles it

Payment and order processing are handled by Shopify, whose own privacy terms apply to that part of the transaction. Card details are entered on Shopify's checkout and are never seen by us. Email correspondence is handled by our email provider.

  4. 04

    What we never do

We don't publish, sell, rent or share customers' personal material. No commissioned piece is ever shown as a sample, quoted in marketing, or used as a testimonial. Every reading on this site was written by us for that purpose.

  5. 05

What stays out of the writing

You decide what is context and what is content. Anything you tell us purely so we understand the situation stays out of the finished piece when you say so, and you can name what must not be mentioned at all.

  6. 06

    Your choices

Ask us for a copy of what we hold for your commission, or ask us to delete it once your piece is finished and your revision window has closed, and we will.

  7. 07

    Kept in your browser

A part-finished intake is stored in your own browser so you can return to it. Readings you mark with a star are stored the same way. Clearing your browser data removes both, and neither reaches us unless you submit an order.
